Graduation is a time of completion, however, it is also a time of celebration of achievement and a beginning. Graduating from high school is associated with a range of positive life outcomes, from better employment and income prospects to better health and life expectancy. Your graduation ceremony will become a key part of your own timeline; a symbol of change, progression, and moving on to new adventures. Take a moment to celebrate what you’ve achieved so far and appreciate the memories that this part of your education has given you.

Broward County students and parents: Did you know that students must earn volunteer service hours in order to graduate? To get to this moment in life all graduates need and get help from several members of their support system. For those who don’t know yet, High Impacto is part of this support system. High Impacto offers many opportunities to obtain volunteer service hours while helping our community. This service can be helpful to students in discovering careers of interest, demonstrating leadership skills for their resumes and scholarships, and most importantly, giving back to their community.

High Impacto’s volunteers are eligible to participate for free in the Florida Department of Health HIV Counseling and Testing Certification. Experiences like this one are helping them decide if they want to pursue HIV testing and Counseling as a career later. Volunteers can add their volunteer experience and new skills to their resumes. Some organizations will even write reference letters, provide endorsements on LinkedIn, or include financial incentive programs for their volunteers, such as the High Impacto Social Networking Strategy for PrEP (SNS 4 PrEP), the medication that prevents HIV. This strategy offers all volunteers a financial incentive when their referred person signs up and receives their first prescription in our PrEP program.

We would like to share what Andres and Andrea Gill have to say about their experience getting their volunteer services hours while helping us to accomplish our mission. They are siblings who are graduating from Fort Lauderdale High School.

“My name is Andrea Gill and I volunteered at High Impacto and loved the experience. Everyone is so nice, attentive, and respectful. It was a safe and fun work environment for me. Would recommend it to anyone thinking about volunteering here”.

“I volunteered at High Impacto multiple times; it was amazing every time. All the staff made me feel welcomed and were extremely kind. I would highly recommend volunteering at High Impacto if you’re looking for a kind and enjoyable environment and are in need of community service hours.Andrés Gill.
