High Impacto would like to send a Happy Mother’s Day to every woman who has this important role in our community! Also, we would like to congratulate one mother who is part of High Impacto family who also is celebrating her birthday this month as well. Please join us in congratulating Maria Iglesias, CCHW.   Maria J. Iglesias joined High Impacto in 2020 as Prevention Coordinator. Ms. Iglesias currently is High Impacto’s Prevention Manager, and she began her HIV prevention and care career in 1999, when she was a volunteer of the Hispanic Unity of Florida HIV Prevention program.

Ms. Iglesias born in Caracas, Venezuela and graduated from IUT in the same city with a degree in Business Administration. She is a Certified Community Health Worker by the Florida Certification Board, and an HIV Counselor and tester by the Florida Department of Health. She is also a certified ARTAS linkage coordinator, and a Health insurance navigator. Ms. Iglesias has been recognized with different awards by Latinos en Accion (L.E.A.) in 2005, 2011, 2012 and 2021. Ms. Iglesias resides in Davie, Florida with her husband, her son and one of her nephews. Her daughter lives in St. Petersburg where she works as a graphic designer. Maria’s life has been blessed by having Sonny as part of her loving family. Sonny is a 17 and a half year old Yorkie. This cute dog has been an emotional support for her son and everyone in her family. Maria found that the working environment and great professionals working with her in the HIV field are the things that she likes the most in her job. Maria has the same level of passion for tennis – her favorite sport. “I like to watch when Rafael Nadal plays, Maria said. “He has won 22 Grand Slams. Carlos Alcaraz at 19 years old is the new generation of tennis, and both are from Spain, the same place my family comes from!
