World AIDS Day is a day to unite and help end HIV and also to remember those lost to AIDS-related illnesses. This day isn’t just about a ribbon, it’s not just about living with HIV, it’s much bigger than that. It’s about humanity. The commemoration of this day is being done in the context of two other infectious disease threats, COVID-19 and monkeypox, which have strongly impacted the same historically affected communities. These epidemics have further demonstrated that the public health response to HIV requires that health disparities be addressed holistically. For this reason, High Impacto is well situated within its mission to offer comprehensive health insurance for communities in need.

This year’s theme for World AIDS Day is “Testing Ourselves: Achieving Equity to End HIV”. This theme encourages people to come together globally to eliminate disparities and inequities that create barriers to HIV testing, prevention, and access to HIV care. Following this line, High Impacto this year has joined again Broward Family Dental Care in Lauderhill, Florida, and will be participating in an event commemorating World AIDS Day offering all services for HIV prevention, and care, showing once again as an organization that is fighting to eliminate disparities and inequities that hinder access to testing, HIV prevention and access to care. The Event FREE HEALTH CHECK will be hosted by Broward Family Dental Care located at 6260 W Oakland Park Blvd Lauderhill FL 33313 starting at 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Everyone is welcome. Please add it to your calendar and invite community members who can benefit from this event.

We are promoting a status-neutral approach to HIV testing that puts equity at the forefront. Under this approach, regardless of the test outcome, people must be connected to necessary HIV prevention and treatment services, including strategies to address social determinants of health and barriers to accessibility. We are inviting you to contact us to work together to find your eligibility for access to health insurance that will help you maintain overall health including your sexual and mental health.

Remarkable progress has been made since the first commemoration of World AIDS Day 34 years ago. Scientific research has produced innovations in HIV care, treatment, and prevention so that people diagnosed positive for HIV can enjoy longer, healthier lives. Strong scientific studies have also shown that people who take HIV drugs and achieve and maintain viral suppression cannot transmit HIV to others, meaning that successful treatment further reduces new transmissions. These advances have been made possible by strategic collaborations between governments, public sector partners, multilateral institutions, non-governmental and philanthropic organizations, private companies, and research institutions. People with a positive diagnosis of HIV have been instrumental in helping to achieve this progress along with community-based organizations working in the areas most affected by HIV. High Impacto is at the forefront of ensuring that the gains made translate into real improvements in the health and lives of the people they serve.
