At High Impacto, we work for a happy and healthy community regardless of gender, race, country of origin, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, or any other category where society brings together community members. We work without discrimination and support those who believe in the importance of raising our voice collectively when it comes to exhorting everyone to speak openly about the health of each member of our diverse, multicultural, and multi-ethnic community, including the health of the LGBTQ+ community.
Last week marked the 20th National LGBTQ+ Health Awareness Week. The commemoration was organized and coordinated by the National Coalition for LGBTQ Health and the theme was LIVE OUT LOUD for LGBTQ health! `
This theme also speaks to the importance of raising our collective voices against those who tell us, “Don’t say gay”. High Impacto urges Floridian leaders to unify concerning the protection and support of students who are part of this important community. Join us in saying “Gay” out loud as we live intensely for the health of the general community including LGBTQ people. High Impacto took this week as an opportunity to remember how important every human being is in our world and more when it comes to protecting public health. The truth is that we do this not only during that week but during the year by promoting HIV prevention and testing for HIV, implementing the different prevention tools in the community such as PrEP (a medication that prevents HIV) and TASP (Treatment as Prevention or U = U). Since the beginning of this year, we are offering free health insurance for the community at large.
